"If you build it, he will come..." - that famous line is from one of my favorite movies. While this line was true in the movie, often it does not produce the same amazing results when you build your enterprise search application. The phrase that I think is more appropriate is: "If you build it he will come, and if you build it well, he will continue to come back."
Building the "Field of Dreams" takes more than getting all of your data into the enterprise search product of your choice, of which there are many. The ways to get your data into that index properly are also a challenge, which we'll talk about in a future post. Let’s take a leap of faith and trust that the search application is loaded with all of your important data, and that "Shoeless" Joe Jackson just walked onto your field.
